Back in the UK

In a posting on 6 November 2010, I admitted it had been a year since my last posting. Today's posting is another hefty 7 months after my last one in May 2011 so I'm getting better- slowly!

At least I have an excuse - we have moved country and continent! We arrived in the UK in November 2011 and the last 6 months have been interesting and challenging. Our beloved dog and my faithful companion Benjy passed away aged 12 years on 30 June 2011 after several years of living with diabetes. Then we made the decision to move back to the UK and I have been blessed with an opportunity with PwC in the UK, so began the upheaval of closing down and tidying up on the SA side and then starting again on the UK side. But we are here, the childen are in good schools and Nikki is busying herself with our rented house and with her dreams! Personally I have found the move quite stressful and in many ways am missing the Cape - I often see it as my home, even if it is my adopted one. For all the conveniences of the UK, something basic and eternal lies in the Cape. I haven't put my finger on it yet, but I think it has something to do with the space. Not that where we live now has no space - it is right in nature with open farmland and big skies - so I' not sure yet why SA is holidng my heart. Let's check in again on this one in 6 months and 12 months!

Tara and Mousey arrive tomorrow - they ae probably being loaded onto the plane in cape town as we speak - so I'm trying not to think too much about that. But I'm looking forward to a joyful reunion tomorrow!
